var news = [ { title: "Photographer Sue pays Lenin a Christmas visit", content: "

You’ve probably gathered by now that here at Fourninety towers, the team are really passionate about travelling.

One of our fantastic photographers, Sue Brown, has just returned from an amazing trip to Russia; a country she last visited 23 years ago. Here she reflects on her time in the former Communist state:

“When I last visited, it was still very much the old Moscow; no designer shops, no McDonald’s, just lots of queues for basic foods. But now the Gum store (in central Moscow) is very different. It’s all designer shops (Channel, Prada etc) and of course they have McDonald’s (which apparently opened in 1990, and the queue, I was told, was 5km long). Lenin bless him,  after his years of daily embalming touch ups  still looked well dead!  Only the last time I saw him he was lying on a four poster bed with a guard at each corner, but now he is lying in a red velvet lined open top type of sarcophagus with just two guards watching everyone’s move. Best of all – 23 years ago they only had Lipton’s tea, thank goodness now they have Twinning’s!”

Wow, what an interesting trip. Thanks for sharing, Sue!

You might remember that back in September we showed off our brand new instore designs for boutique footwear retailer Moda in Pelle. Well, here’s some exciting news just in; they’ve appointed us again to produce their Spring/Summer 2012 campaign. We can’t say too much at the moment, but we can tell you that we can’t wait to start shooting lots of pretty shoes later this month! Our work will stretch across 4 campaigns over the first two quarters of this year, and we’re really excited to get cracking on with it. Watch this space to see the final product!

Our intrepid repro operator Mark Wokes has recently returned from a strenuous 7 day mountain bike trek in the Atlas mountains, battling through treacherous conditions to reach heights of over 2092m. Mark loved travelling on his own and meeting likeminded biking enthusiasts, citing riding on the edge in amazingly remote and challenging technical terrain as a real highlight.

Things weren’t all a piece of cake though; being stranded in the snow whilst trying to rendezvous with fresh supplies was a bit of a touch and go moment! Not quite the winter sun we were expecting you to report back on Mark, but what an amazing achievement! There’s no stopping him now –  we’re all wishing Mark the best of luck in the Helly Hensen Challenge which is taking place later this year.

Senior Account Manager Lian Stevenson and Art Director extraordinaire Louise Bader-Morrison have recently returned from Fourninety’s 4th consecutive annual South African photography shoot for Homebase. This year saw an extended 3.5 week trip for the team, taking in a range of locations from classic country gardens to beach houses.

Lian and Louise managed a large local photographic, logistics and production team, consisting of a photographer, 2 assistants, 3 logistics people, 3 stylists, a production manager (all pictured below) and a partridge in a pear tree!

The trip wasn’t without its challenges; unusual unsettled and unpredictable weather this year meant that the shooting schedule was tight, but the team worked exceptionally hard to ensure that the everything was wrapped up on time and to brief. We thought that weather problems were something that was left behind when Lian and Louise boarded their flight to South Africa!

All in all though, the trip was a huge success and we can’t wait to see the brochure when it hits the stores later this spring!

After a month of hair growth, we can finally reveal the finished faces of the 2011 Moninety team!

Above, we have Senior Account Manager Simon Danks sporting a mo that Hulk Hogan would be proud of, whilst below Development Director John Lawrence has given Tom Selleck a run for his money (if Tom Selleck had slightly less hair).

They’ve both done a fab job with encouraging their top lip topiary to grow. I’m sure they’re both really looking forward to shaving it off on Thursday!

Don’t forget you can sponsor the guys here.  The final fundraising total will be revealed soon!

We’ve recently been delighted to welcome Kealeigh Brewer to the Fourninety South team. Kealeigh is currently undertaking a full-time apprenticeship in Business and Administration and has really impressed the team so far!

Here she gives us an insight into what she’s been up to over her first few weeks at Fourninety:

“Firstly, what a lovely group of people! I couldn’t have asked to join a more friendly and welcoming team. My first impressions left me thinking ‘This is my cup of tea, I’m going to like it here!’

I’m working at Fourninety doing my Apprenticeship in Business and Administration, so I am working closely with Rachel and Katy. They are fantastic and extremely helpful, I already feel like I can turn to them. My duties include assisting Katy and carrying out any tasks she requires me to do, answering the phone, taking deliveries, sending new photography and images for repro over to Mark, moving images to and from the different servers, and much more!

I’ve seen Alan photograph plants for a major client down in the studio, whilst I assisted Natalie with the styling for the day. It involved a last minute run down to Sainsbury’s for some herbs and...

Here at Fourninety we’re very lucky to have a team of photographers who are not only amazing at what they do but who are very passionate about it too.

One of our photographers, Simon Denson, has just got a new Canon SD MK II and was very excited to take it out for a test drive this weekend. Fourninety towers is ideally situated in the heart of Yorkshire so stunning scenery that’s perfect for testing out new kit is just a short journey away! This was taken at Scalber Force waterfall near Settle, and we think it looks beautiful!

Well, here they are – the faces of Fourninety Movember 2011. At the top, Development Director John Lawrence shows us that looking like Ron Burgandy can be cool really (with that stare, who would dare doubt him?!) and below, Senior Account Manager Simon Danks sports a look a 1980s German rock star would be proud of.

They’re joined this year by 220,000 other British men who are spending this month growing, styling and scratching their facial fuzz to raise money for prostate and cancer research charities. Celebrity participants this year include Stephen Fry, Jensen Button, Gary Lineker and Mo Farrah, all clubbing together to prove that a man doesn’t grow the moustache, the moustache grows the man.

You can sponsor John and Simon’s efforts at top-lip topiary here and don’t forget to keep checking the blog for further reports of their progress.

Argos, one of the UK’s largest multichannel retailers, are working together in partnership with Fourninety to stay ahead of the game and explore rich media opportunities for their online offering.

In an age where customers demand and expect an online experience which parallels the high-street (but without the hassle!) rich media content (encompassing 360 photography, video and CGI) is extremely powerful.

Our most recent project for Argos has included shooting a range of Chad Valley toys in 360, enabling consumers to turn products and examine them closely from every angle; a simple, fast and cost effective solution which will push the Argos brand further.

Here are some examples of our 360 photography work for Argos:

\"\"The Milton Keynes studio has been busy this week filming catwalk and shooting still images for a leading UK designer. The high-end images showcase the latest trends and allow customers to view garments from different angles, zoom in on a product and highlight details and textures.

In a market that is increasingly reliant on retailers finding the most effective ways to present their products and their brand digitally, Fourninety’s 15,000ft multi-use studio can simultaneously provide the perfect catwalk installation and space for still photography. We can offer a complimentary digital channel that will ensure that brands stay ahead in a multi-channel market. The catwalks allow retailers to communicate the most information possible, providing customers with an experience that is the next best thing to trying on clothes.

Fourninety’s impressive studio space has been purpose built to deliver high-volume creatively complex photography. This, combined with working closely with a plethora of internationally acclaimed photographers, art directors and stylists, allows us to offer a shoot that has the capacity to break boundaries and push brands further.
