Wedding bells are ringing again at Fourninety! Our Senior Account Manager Lian Sherer got married on Friday 30th July to Fiancee Bobby.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Stevenson, here’s to many years of happiness!

Fourninety’s Darryl Webster, a member of the retouching and packaging team, has returned to work exhausted today after a grueling weekend tackling the three highest peaks in the UK. Despite no sleep and a mini bus breaking down at the bottom of Scarfell Pike, Daz and a seventy strong team successfully climbed Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis in an impressive 24 hours, raising a staggering £31,000 (at the time of writing) for Leeds based charity Andrea’s Gift, supporting brain cancer research and support. This weekend has been a particularly busy one for Fourninety”s Anna Turner. Anna juggles her full-time role as Artworker on the Argos Flyer account with studying part-time towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art at Leeds College of Art.  For the past few months, Anna has been busily preparing for an exhibition which showcased her work and that of her fellow course-mates. Called ‘Work and Play’, the exhibition juxtaposed the work the students do as part of their course with the art they create in their free-time.

Taking place at Temple Works, one of Leeds’ most interesting hidden spaces, the exhibition was met with a great reception from visitors this weekend and was a brilliant experience for everyone involved. Well done Anna!

Time to get out those fancy frocks, waistcoats and hats! June marks the beginning of our wedding season as two members of the Fourninety team tie the knot over the summer months.

Last weekend, Operations Controller Richard Jackson married his fiancé Jackie in a lavish celebration that was blessed by gorgeous weather. Having spent his Stag Do recording a CD featuring our very own Mike Heyes and Simon Danks, we can’t wait for Richard to come back from his honeymoon so we can hear the results of the recording session! Many congratulations Richard and Jackie.

Meanwhile, Senior Account Manager Lian Sherer was whisked off a few weeks ago for a surprise Hen Do in classy Puerto Banus, Spain. Despite Lian’s fiancé Bobby seeing pictures of Lian in a dodgy 80s dress during her hen weekend, he’s still agreed to marry her and the wedding is next month. We’re looking forward to seeing you in a slightly more on-trend dress Miss Sherer!

Fourninety team members Iona Yarrow and Rebecca Edwards are busy this month training and raising sponsorship for the Shine Night Marathon which is taking place overnight in Manchester on Saturday the 17th of April. The walk will see Iona and Rebecca set off on a half marathon trek across the heart of the city, taking in Old Trafford football ground, Manchester University, the Beetham Tower and Granada TV studios on the way.

Rebecca is walking to raise money for bowel cancer research, the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Click here to sponsor Rebecca.

Iona is counting the 13 miles as part of her 365 miles in 365 days endurance challenge, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Care and Dexter’s Wish. Click here for Iona’s blog and sponsorship page.

This week saw Operations Controller Richard Jackson give David Dickinson a run for his money at Fourninety’s charity auction of surplus photography props. All Richard needed was a dash of fake tan as he took over the mantle of chief auctioneer in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Appeal!

Fourninety team members bagged some real bargains as crockery, kitchen and bathroom accessories, rugs, kids toys and electrical items went under the hammer for a brilliant cause.

The auction has so far raised an impressive £557.25 for the appeal, which will hopefully go some way in helping to provide clean water, shelter, sanitation and medical care to those affected by the devastating earthquake.

Senior Account Manager Claire Holden spends her days at Fourninety project managing the Argos jewellery range, but in the evenings she transforms into a home-cooking domestic goddess who would make Nigella jealous with her culinary talents!

After chatting about what she cooks for tea (or dinner as they say dawwwwn sauff) on a daily basis with her team members here at 490, Claire’s started a blog which is regularly updated with her favourite family recipes and photos to match. It’s a really lovely read and full of great ideas for freshly-cooked and easy meals. One tip though: don’t read it when you’re at work and hungry- the food looks so good that you might be tempted to eat your chair leg!

Check out Claire’s blog here.

With January 2010 almost at a close (how did that happen?!!), the month has been especially successful for one member of our team. Finance Assistant Kate Longthorn has recently found out that she has passed three notoriously difficult strategic level CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountancy) exams. The exams, which Kate sat in December, were the penultimate modules in the completion of a CIMA qualification. After completing her final assessment Kate will become a recognised Chartered Management Accountant- congratulations Kate!

Another member of the Fourninety team has also started 2010 with a challenging goal. Account Executive Iona Yarrow has set herself an impressive New Year’s challenge, committing to walking, swimming or jogging a mammoth 365 miles in 365 days.  This resolution will test her endurance and hopefully raise a lot of money for charity in the process!   Iona is a keen photographer and will be updating an online journal to share the miles with us. Click here to take a look.

Will Iona be part of the 12% who achieve their New Year’s resolution? Follow her progress and donate to her chosen charities (Macmillan and Dexter’s Wish) here.

Simon Danks: Senior Account Manager or trucker, most at home in a roadside cafe. You decide.  All we know is that if Simon was living in 1447, he wouldn’t be allowed to sport such a tash (a law was passed that year forcing men to shave their upper lip). Luckily for the Prostate Cancer Charity (but arguably unluckily for his girlfriend), this law no longer applies and Simon is busily growing his mo throughout November to raise money for such a worthy cause.

We literally went dotty for Children In Need last Friday. Staff in our Leeds offices donned their spottiest clothes and donated food for a lunchtime buffet. After filling our bellies with yummy food, other activities included ‘hunt the bear’ (poor Pudsey), a Fourninety Guess Who worksheet, guess the number of sweets in the jar, a Fourninety tombola, and guess the number of Pudsey badges in the building. The self-proclaimed ’Fourninety WI’ also put on a magnificent cake sale with a little bit of extra help from Senior Account Manager Simon Danks.
Our ‘Fun Friday’ raised an impressive £273.00- well done everybody!
